Terms of service
The agreement between you and Likewise. Last updated 7 September 2026.
On this page
Likewise is operated by Christopher Schmotzer, a sole proprietor based in Michigan, United States. "We" and "us" mean Likewise; "you" means anyone using it.
By creating an account, buying a ticket, or attending an event through Likewise, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use Likewise.
Last updated 7 September 2026.
You must be 18 or over
Likewise is for adults. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, buy a ticket, or attend an event.
If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we will close it and delete their information.
What Likewise is, and what it is not
Likewise is software that hosts use to run their own events. A host — a parish group, a community organiser, a venue — decides when and where an event happens, who may attend, what a ticket costs, and how the night is run. Likewise handles the tickets, the scanning, the private answers and the reveal.
We do not organise events, and we are not present at them. We do not select, vet, interview or background-check hosts or attendees. When you attend an event you are attending the host's event, not ours.
This distinction matters for what follows, so it is worth stating plainly: your agreement about the event itself is with the host. Ours is about the software.
Meeting people you have not met before
Likewise exists to introduce people to each other. That carries ordinary real-world risk, and we cannot remove it.
We do not verify that anyone is who they say they are. A display name, a photo and a contact detail are what a person typed in. Nothing on Likewise should be taken as a representation by us about anybody's identity, character, intentions or safety.
Use your judgement. Meet in public. Tell someone where you are going. Leave if you want to leave. If you feel unsafe, contact the host, the venue, or the emergency services — in the United States, 911.
Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.
Give us information that is true. In particular, the contact detail you provide is what is shared with someone you have matched with, so an inaccurate one makes the product not work rather than protecting you.
One account per person. Do not create an account on someone else's behalf.
Conduct
Do not use Likewise to harass, threaten, deceive, impersonate, or endanger anyone. Do not use it to advertise, recruit, or solicit. Do not attempt to identify someone who did not match with you, or to work out how anyone answered.
Do not scrape, probe, overload, or interfere with the service, or try to reach data that is not yours.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and we may do so without notice where somebody's safety is involved.
Tickets, fees and refunds
What a ticket costs is set by the host. Our fee is a flat $5.00 per paid ticket, and it is included in the price the attendee sees rather than added at checkout. Free events cost nothing and carry no fee.
Refunds. You may refund your own ticket in full, including our fee, at any time until ticket sales close for that event. After sales close, refunds are at the host's discretion; contact the host.
If a host cancels an event, tickets for that event are refunded in full.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
If you are a host
You are responsible for the event you run: the venue, the licences, any insurance, and the safety and conduct of the night. You are responsible for complying with the law where your event takes place.
To be paid you must complete Stripe's onboarding and keep the account able to receive payouts. Your payout is the ticket price less our fee, and it is sent after the event has ended and settled, usually within a day.
You will see less about your attendees than you might expect, and that is deliberate. Hosts never see who answered what, who matched with whom, or anyone's contact details. This is not a limitation we will lift on request; it is the promise that makes people willing to answer honestly.
Do not use anything you learn through Likewise for anything other than running your event.
Photos and anything else you upload
You keep ownership of what you upload. You give us permission to store and display it for the purpose of running the service — which for a profile photo means showing it to people you have had a date with at the same event.
Upload only what is yours to upload, and nothing unlawful, sexually explicit, or depicting someone who has not agreed to it.
We may remove content that breaks these terms.
Our intellectual property
Likewise's software, design, name and branding belong to us. These terms give you permission to use the service, and nothing else.
The service is provided as it is
We work hard to keep Likewise running and correct, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that an event will go as planned, or that you will meet anyone.
To the fullest extent the law allows, Likewise is provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for anything that happens between people who met through Likewise.
Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. For most attendees that is the price of a ticket.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Ending it
You may stop using Likewise and ask us to delete your account at any time — write to privacy@likewiseonline.com.
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or if we stop offering the service.
Some things survive the end of your account: matches already revealed to other people stay with them, and records we are required to keep for tax and payment purposes stay with us.
Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we will say so in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Likewise after that means you accept the new version.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute goes to the state or federal courts located in Michigan.
